The Luxury Collection Expeditions mark a bold new chapter for Marriott’s Luxury Collection brand — extending its role as The Destination Authority beyond hotel stays into immersive cultural journeys.
What’s New
- Immersive Journeys: Guests move beyond sightseeing to engage deeply with local heritage, crafts, cuisine, and landscapes.
- Expert-Led Access: Historians, artisans, chefs, winemakers, conservationists, and cultural voices guide travelers into vineyards, temples, workshops, archaeological sites, and ecosystems.
- Global Reach: Launching with 10 Expeditions across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean, with more to come this fall.
Three Expressions of Expeditions
1. Private Tailored Journeys (multi-day itineraries across destinations)
- Japan: The Imperial Journey — samurai residences, temple access, geiko dinner in Gion.
- Italy: The Grand Italia Rally — classic car rally-style drive from Milan to Venice, Florence, and Tuscany.
- Greece: The Aegean Odyssey — helicopter and yacht travel across Mykonos, Paros, and Santorini with archaeology and wine culture.
2. Day Discoveries Rooted in Place (single-day cultural immersions)
- Kyoto: Farm-to-fermentation journey with nukazuke preservation.
- Scottsdale: Desert Icons tour with botanical conservation and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West.
- Diriyah: Najdi heritage through doors, cuisine, and artisan workshops.
3. Residencies & Collaborations Guided by Expertise (limited-time programs with specialists)
- Spain: Rioja Alavesa winemaking masterclass at Hotel Marqués de Riscal.
- South Caicos: Marine science, bonefishing, and stargazing expeditions with local experts.
Brand Philosophy
Bruce Rohr, VP & Global Brand Leader, summed it up:
> “Expeditions invite our guests to venture beyond the walls of their hotel and into the living fabric of a place, where expert guidance and cultural context foster a deeper and more personal understanding of a destination.”
This initiative positions each Luxury Collection property as a gateway to cultural discovery, blending refined hospitality with authentic, place-rooted experiences.
