Delhi Metro commences construction work at Shivaji Stadium Metro Station for Central Vista Corridor
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has begun construction at Shivaji Stadium Metro Station under the Central Vista Corridor, marking another milestone in the city’s expanding metro network.
Phase V(A) Expansion:
Extends the Magenta Line from Janakpuri West to R.K. Ashram Marg.
Interchange Facility:
The new underground station will connect seamlessly with the existing Airport Express Line via a 230m underground subway.
Rajiv Chowk Connectivity:
An 800m underground subway with travelators will link Shivaji Stadium to Rajiv Chowk, easing pedestrian movement.
Engineering Feat:
Diaphragm wall construction at 38m depth (equivalent to a 12-storey building) since the station lies below the Airport Express alignment.
Construction Scale:
- 3,000 cubic metres of concrete/month → ~500 mixer trips.
- 15,000 cubic metres excavation/month → ~750 dumper trips.
- Strict measures for road cleanliness, spillage prevention, and traffic flow management.

- Benefits commuters working nearby, students, devotees visiting Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, and Airport Express passengers.
- Enhances connectivity to key government offices, memorials, and convention facilities along the 9.913 km Central Vista Corridor with nine underground stations.
