The 88th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle turned into a spectacular celebration in New Delhi, blending fitness, sportsmanship, and international camaraderie.
Highlights from the Event
- Led by Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, joined by cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir, wrestler Sangram Singh, and actor Madhurima Tuli.
- Over 5,000 participants cycled, danced, and celebrated under the BRICS Run & Ride 2026 initiative.
- The event was simultaneously held at 25,000+ locations nationwide, making it one of the largest fitness drives in India.
Special Significance
- This edition coincided with National Sports Day and comes just ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam (Sept 12–13, 2026).
- Dr. Mandaviya dedicated the event to BRICS dignitaries, highlighting cycling’s three-fold benefits: fitness, reduced pollution, and easing traffic congestion.
International Participation
Envoys and senior officials from countries including Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Belarus, Cuba, Ethiopia, and Russia joined the ride, showcasing global solidarity through fitness.
Festive Atmosphere
- An ITBP brass band added energy to the morning.
- Gambhir flagged off the ride, calling Fit India “not merely an event, but a movement” for a stronger, self-reliant nation.
This initiative, envisioned by Dr. Mandaviya, is now a nationwide passion, conducted through the SAI and Khelo India network across all States and Union Territories.
