Delhi Airport to Augment International Handling Capacity at Terminal 3 Ahead of BRICS Summit
In preparation for the anticipated increase in international air traffic associated with the upcoming 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) is augmenting its international passenger-handling capacity at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Expanded International Capacity
- Pier C at Terminal 3 will progressively open for international operations starting night of 9 September 2026.
- From 10 September evening, both arrivals and departures will be handled.
- Once fully operational, international passenger capacity will rise by 50%, reaching 31 million passengers per annum (MPPA).
Preparedness for BRICS Summit
- The move is part of DIAL’s plan to manage the surge in international traffic during the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit (11–13 September 2026) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
- Coordination with CISF, BCAS, airlines, ground handlers, immigration, customs, and other stakeholders ensures seamless operations.
Summit Significance
- The summit will host leaders and delegations from BRICS member and partner countries, plus heads of international organisations and business representatives.
