IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has signed a landmark Master Development Agreement with leading Australian property developer ALAND to launch Staybridge Suites, IHG’s globally established upscale extended-stay brand, in Australia and build a significant national portfolio.
Master Development Agreement:
IHG Hotels & Resorts and ALAND signed a landmark deal giving ALAND exclusive rights to develop Staybridge Suites in Australia.
Scale:
At least 15 hotels and 2,000 rooms will be rolled out nationally.
First properties:
- Staybridge Suites Sydney Parramatta (130 rooms)
- Staybridge Suites Sydney Leppington (112 rooms)
Management:
Both hotels will be operated by Signature Hotel Management Group.
Momentum:
This builds on their recent collaboration with the opening of voco Gosford in ALAND’s Archibald precinct.
Strategic Locations
- Parramatta: A major commercial hub in Sydney, ideal for extended-stay business travelers.
- Leppington: Positioned near the upcoming Western Sydney International Airport and Aerotropolis, targeting long-stay guests tied to infrastructure and aviation projects.
Market Impact
- Extended-stay growth: Australia’s demand is rising due to corporate projects, relocations, and travelers seeking flexible, residential-style stays.
- Global footprint: Staybridge Suites already has 355 open hotels and 152 in the pipeline worldwide, making this expansion a significant milestone.
This deal effectively creates a new national extended-stay platform in Australia, positioning IHG and ALAND as early movers in a segment that’s expected to grow rapidly.
