Availability of ‘OneTag’ FASTag portability has expanded the citizen centric services available for National Highway users on Rajmargyatra Mobile App
What is ‘OneTag’?
- A new FASTag portability feature available on the Rajmargyatra App.
- Lets users switch their FASTag issuer bank while keeping the same physical tag on their vehicle.
- Eliminates the need for repeated tag production, dispatch, and reissuance.
How It Works
1. Login to Rajmargyatra App and enter your vehicle registration number to check eligibility.
2. Receive a six-digit Mobile Verification Code (MVC) from your current issuer bank.
3. Authorize, then select a new issuer bank.
4. Complete customer verification and wallet onboarding with the new issuer.
5. The existing FASTag ID remains unchanged, so the same tag continues to work.
After Portability
- The previous issuer closes the old wallet and refunds the balance (after adjustments).
- Cooling period: 6 months before the tag can be ported again.
Benefits
- Enhances consumer choice and flexibility.
- Improves FASTag lifecycle management by reducing production and operational costs.
- Strengthens India’s digital tolling ecosystem with more interoperability.
FASTag in India
- 98% penetration rate.
- Around 13 crore users nationwide.
- ‘OneTag’ adds to citizen-centric services on Rajmargyatra App like Annual Pass, Local Pass, and Emergency Helpline 1033.
This is a significant step toward making FASTag more user-friendly and efficient, giving highway users greater control over their tolling experience.
