BLR Airport marks Karnataka’s Naadahabba Dasara with a week-long celebration of art, culture and heritage
Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) will host a week-long Naadahabba Dasara celebration from October 12–17.
The festival will showcase Karnataka’s art, culture, traditions and heritage through performances, installations and interactive experiences.
Dasara Gombe & Puppetry
- A traditional Dasara Gombe (festive doll display) will be showcased at the T2 Arrival Forecourt from October 12–17.
- The display is curated by Padma Shri awardee and puppeteer Anupama Hoskere.
- Traditional Togalu Gombeyatta shadow puppetry will be performed by ninth-generation puppeteer Gunduraju and his team on October 16.
Interactive Craft Experiences
- Channapatna Experience Centre: Toy-painting workshops featuring Karnataka’s iconic wooden toys.
- Terracotta Experience Centre: Hands-on figurine painting inspired by the state’s terracotta traditions.
Traditional Games Zone
Visitors can experience Karnataka’s traditional board games, including:
- Huli Kuri
- Saalu Aata
- Aligulimane
- Chowkabara
- Spiral Snakes & Ladders
Art & Cultural Installations
- Karnataka-themed decorations and installations across the airport.
- Dasara umbrellas, emblems and heritage-inspired displays.
- A traditionally adorned elephant installation at Bengaluru Duty Free.
- Special all-women Dollu Kunitha performances.
Food & Culinary Experience
- BLR Airport has partnered with chef Ranveer Brar and 080 Lounges for the campaign “A Dasara Challenge. A Karnataka Answer.”
- Kannadigas will be invited to share their favourite Dasara recipes.
- The winning recipe will be recreated by 080 Lounge chefs and served to travellers on October 20.
Objective
- The celebrations aim to give travellers an immersive introduction to Karnataka’s culture, art, crafts, food and traditions.
- The initiative is part of BLR Airport’s “Feels Like BLR” campaign, designed to bring local culture into the passenger journey.
